NATIONAL CADET CORPS (NCC)

The college has been proudly hosting a unit of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) of Army Wing (C Coy) since 1988 under the administrative control of the 4 Assam Battalion NCC under the NER Directorate. Since its establishment, the unit has played a vital role in shaping students into disciplined, confident, and socially responsible citizens. The NCC unit was introduced with the objective of instilling the core values of unity, discipline, leadership, and national service among students. The total strength of the college unit is 160 cadets.

Regular training forms the core of NCC activities. Cadets participate in drill practices, physical training, weapon training, map reading, FCBC, and various community service programmes. They also participate in several camps, such as the Combined Annual Training Camp (CATC), National Integration Camp (NIC), Basic Leadership Camp (BLC), Army Attachment Camp, Trekking Camp, Rock Climbing, etc. Apart from regular NCC activities, the unit of the college also organizes various programmes such as Blood Donation Camp, Plantation Drive, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Drive Against Drug & Alcohol, Yoga, Disaster Management, Awareness Programmes on Health and Hygiene, Water Conservation, Pollution, Dowry, Cashless Transaction, etc. The unit has an excellent track record of achievement in NCC ‘B’ and ‘C’ certificates.

Enrollment of cadets takes place at the beginning of each academic session. The selection procedure includes written test, physical fitness test, and personal interview. Preference is given to the student having NCC ‘A’ certificate and certificates in sports, cultural events, etc. Marks of HSLC and HS examinations are also given weightage in the selection process.

A minimum of 75 per cent attendance in NCC classes is mandatory for participation in camps and for appearing in the NCC ‘B’ and ‘C’ Certificate Examinations. To support participation, cadets receive NCC uniform allowance and refreshment in NCC classes.
