Department of Political Science

The Department of Political Science of Nabinchandra College, Badarpur has been an integral part of the institution since its establishment in 1969, contributing significantly to the intellectual and civic development of students. The department is committed to providing quality education in political science and nurturing socially responsible, constitutionally aware, and critically informed citizens.

The department offers a Four-Year Undergraduate Programme in Political Science under the Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) stream, following the syllabus and academic regulations prescribed by Assam University. The curriculum covers core areas such as Indian Constitution and Political System, Political Theory, Comparative Politics, International Relations, Public Administration, and Indian Political Thought. The programme equips students with analytical and conceptual skills to understand political institutions, governance mechanisms, and public policies at local, national, and global levels.

The department is supported by a team of qualified and dedicated faculty members who are actively involved in teaching, mentoring, and research. Faculty members regularly participate in seminars, workshops, faculty development programmes, and academic conferences to remain updated with emerging trends in political studies.

The department follows a student-centric teaching-learning approach by integrating classroom lectures with seminars, group discussions, debates, presentations, project work, and ICT-enabled teaching tools. In addition, the department organizes co-curricular and extension activities such as guest lectures, awareness programmes, and observance of Constitution Day and National Voter's Day.
